Cyril the Screw (Full Book) – Sean Lock TV Show Prop recreation

£12.99

One of Sean Lock's most memorable comedic moments was his parody of the beloved children's book The Tiger Who Came to Tea. After the success of his first children’s book, he created a follow-up. You know, for the money.

Series 14, episode 4 saw the launch of his new book, Cyril the Screw, first aired Friday 15th September 2017.

From the man himself:

“We’ve got Postman Pat, we’ve got Fireman Sam, got Bob the Builder, time for a prison Guard. So, I’ve created, Cyril the Screw.”

Now Cyril’s story has been brought to life as a complete illustrated book, recreating the wonderfully daft world glimpsed on screen.

Meet Cyril, a prison officer with a set of keys, a grey prison van and what should, in theory, be a fairly straightforward job. Unfortunately for Cyril, things have a habit of going spectacularly wrong.

Featuring escaped prisoners, an eight-eyed spider, an ill-advised visit to The Red Lion and a prison van that doesn’t always contain the people it is supposed to, Cyril the Screw turns Sean Lock’s absurd mascot idea into a fully illustrated comic adventure.

Created in a charming hand-drawn style inspired by the original book seen on television, this is designed to look and feel like the strange little book that could genuinely have existed beyond the show.

James Bishop has now published over 20 books, from his first two children’s picture books inspired by the adventures he shares with his daughter, Josie, to many more beyond! His first book, My Daddy Rides a Motorbike, began when Josie sat on his motorcycle at just seven months old. A photograph of that moment became the spark for a story, which James developed during the coronavirus pandemic with the help of illustrator and friend Steve Coles. What started as a personal Christmas present for Josie quickly grew into a published book that found an audience among families and motorbike enthusiasts alike. James has now created book of jokes, memes, colouring and cooking. Whatever your interest, I'm sure there's a book for it!
